I am adding all maps I make into this single post, I will include all the notes I made during each map, so you can just ignore most of my comments and go straight for the maps on them all, please do feel free to give feedback/suggestions on how to make the maps better though..
I took down version 1, since it was just a badly edited version of this version 2 map, now ALL areas that will be available in open beta/commercial, including Beijing/Paris and it's connecting maps have been included with names, Tokyo is just an extra since it is based on the ingame world map, but next step is adding resources, mobs, NPCs to each area etc...
THIS IS THE MOST BASIC FORM OF THE WORLD MAP WITH AREA NAMES ON IT
Okay, I've decided to start doing resource/NPC/Mob location maps for each general area, this will include NPC Names/Locations numbered in no specific order, Monster Icons, Levels, Names(their bosses too), locations, and the items they drop, and resource/harvest names, levels, item drops, and locations as well, this current one of harbor, is EXTREMELY messy my first try, but give me some feedback on if you could use this to do quests easier or not?
Would this help you, would you be able to figure out where mobs are, what level they are, or what items they dropped based on this? or is it just way too messy to be used for anything?
I intend to try and clean up the next couple maps I do maybe even this one again later, but for now I want to know if this is a good start...
Re:Guide to Levels, Leveling, and Experience in HKO 1 Year, 1 Month ago
Karma: 17
Note: This guide was written for the International Versions Founder Beta, therefore some info isn't accurate anymore, that info is mostly in the skill levels, names, and stats of RECIPES, and also the max levels possible(because those were based on recipes/resources which have been changed), however the experience gained per harvest, and the costs per level are generally the same since founders beta, therefore there is still some use to this guide.
Guide to Levels
Hunting Levels (Experience from monsters): I can't add up any info on this because during the christmas event of international founders beta they've removed monster experience, so I can't figure out what gives what experience or how it is in relation to levels, I may update this later if this guide stays through open beta when it comes out though... Fighting Monsters Does Not Give Experience in Hello Kitty Online and Probably Never Will
Skill leveling and leveling in general :
First off leveling up all skills is done within a 9 level difference for earning experience, what I mean is this:
If you are 9 levels or higher in difference between you and your target crafted item/resource you get 0 experience to the skill you are using
8 levels higher = 1 experience
7 levels higher = 2 experience
6 levels higher = 4 experience
5 levels higher = 9 experience
4 levels higher = 18 experience
3 levels higher = 37 experience
2 levels higher = 75 experience
1 level higher = 150 experience
Same level = 300 experience
1 level lower = 600 experience
2 levels or more lower, I can't test this out because there is nothing currently in the game which is 2 levels higher than any avatar that can be used at that level, but I'd assume using the same formula it would keep doubling to 1200 and 2400+ experience...
Also, when you gain experience towards a certain secondary or other skill (planting, gathering, woodcutting, mining are secondary skills, forging, crafting, cooking, and sewing are other skills) you also gain half of the experience earned toward the skill as experience towards total level as is shown below :
9 levels higher = 0 experience either way
8 levels higher = 1 experience to the skill but since you can't half that, you earn 0 experience towards total level
7 levels higher = 2 experience to your skill and 1 experience towards your total level
6 levels higher = 4 experience to your skill and 2 experience towards your total level
5 levels higher = 9 experience to your skill and 4 experience towards your total level
4 levels higher = 18 experience to your skill and 9 experience towards your total level
3 levels higher = 37 experience to your skill and 18 experience towards your total level
2 levels higher = 75 experience to your skill and 37 experience towards your total level
1 level higher = 150 experience to your skill and 75 experience towards your total level
Same level = 300 experience to your skill and 150 experience towards your total level
1 level lower = 600 experience to your skill and 300 experience towards your total level
2+ levels lower than your target item/resource and it continues to double based on above as is said before...
That's how experience is earned towards the skills based on what level you are and what level the resource you're using or item your crafting is... using that as a guidepost and based on the fact that in the Founders Beta the highest level of any crafted item is 6 and any resource is 6-8, the max levels for all the skills in the Founder's Beta are:
Total Level : 30
Planting : 11 (Highest seeds levels are now 2)
Gathering : 16 (Highest gathering plants are level 7)
Woodcutting : 17 (Highest trees are level 8)
Mining : 15 (Highest mines are level 6)
Forging : 15 (Highest craftable item is level 6)
Crafting : 15 (Highest craftable item is level 6)
Cooking : 15 (Highest craftable item is level 6)
Sewing : 15 (Highest craftable item is level 6)
Those are the level caps in the Founders Beta only rememer... Now, when it comes to all the crafting items, the item levels listed aren't always correct, at first I thought the things on the farthest down in the pages of the recipe book were the highest levels I.E. gave the highest experience but it doesn't seem to be accurate as many quest recipes get added there, and have high crafting levels yet give only level 1 crafting item experience... therefore using the formulas above I calculated the ACTUAL crafting levels of all items based on the experience earned from them... The actual levels of all crafting items are:
This is where the info loses accuracy if it's not completely incorrect anymore. so be warned. The actual recipes these were based on were all changed, however so these are JUST FOR EXAMPLE ON HOW THIS WORKS NOW
Remember you can calculate how much experience each item will give you, each time you craft it based on your skill level and the item/resource you're using/crafting... If you use a level 6 resource or craft a level 6 item, and your skill is level 8 you are 2 levels higher than the resource/item so you get 75 skill experience and 37 total level experience as is shown above, I.E. if your level is 6 the same as the resource/item you get 300 experience to the skill and 150 experience to total level...
The information below on what is the best stuff to level up on was for the international Founders Beta only, and while some may still be accurate(lvl 8 trees, 7 plants, 6 mines, etc), using the rest of the experience info in this guide I suggest you find on your own the best stuff to level up on.
A small hint for those looking to level up using this in the Founder's Beta, the best experience from each resource is listed here:
Planting : the cheapest, level 2 seeds right now are sweet potato and corn, and those are the best experience all the way to level 11
Gathering : Black Nightshades I think are the only level 7 gathering plant right now, so those are the best experience up to level 16, beyond that always make sure to gather from the plant that is the same level as your skill, and you'll always get the best experience, check the other guides posted up to see what levels each gathering plants are...
Woodcutting : There are 3 choices for level 8 trees, Hedgehog Vines, Goat Bamboo, and Big Windbell Trees, all are good for leveling up to the max level of 17, beyond that just like with gathering, always cut down trees the same level as your skill up to level 8 and you'll level up fast...
Mining : there are 2 choices for level 6 mines, caves, and fossils, those are the best up to the max level of 15, beyond that like above just use the mines that are the same level as your mining skill...
Forging : making slick stones is the best way from levels 1-4 and then at level 4 start gathering materials for shiny stones from caves and mines, craft those until level 6 or when you get to level 5 you can start gathering the materials for shimmering stones from stone mines, but I think shiny stones are a better choice as you can use those later to forge the best experience items for forging, the sober axe, and boar scissors using them when you get to level 6... and those are the best experience until level 15 max....
Crafting : making copper rings are probably the easiest and fastest way to level 4 or 5, and once you get to 4 you can switch to making fine copper for a while, at level 5 assuming you did the forging method of going for shiny stones, you already have a supply of shiny stones, grey crystals, and iron ores, all the items needed to level up your crafting, the best way to continually level up crafting is mining caves and mines for iron ores, grey crystals, and the fragments to make shiny stones, then using all those to craft burry balls and their material items polished crystals etc... also fine iron with the iron ores you get along the way gives another nice bit of experience up until the max level of 15...
Cooking : this one is straightforward, ordinary bread or chocolate milk up until level 6 and then from 6 to max level 15, crafting oat biscuits and then make the oat biscuits into lemon pies, both oat biscuits and lemon pies are level 6 crafting level so you get best experience for making both of them...
Sewing : Traveler shoes are the best method to level sewing up to 3 on, then once you get to 3 focus entirely on gathering cotton from windbell trees, you get both cotton and high quality cotton, keep both of them and build up a big stock... use the cotton to craft, crafted cotton, and use the high quality cotton and some bad branches from coffee trees to craft silk you get good experience from those until level 6, then use all the crafted cotton you've saved up to craft Roarer tops the best experience item to craft until the max level of 15 for sewing...
Finally, the actual experience required for all the individual levels, this section is still incomplete but I'll try and add all the rest of the info as I get it:
Since all the experience required to level is the same for all Secondary Skills (Planting, Gathering, Woodcutting, and Mining) I'm only going to add the experience required to elvel once for all 17 levels, but remember only woodcutting can make it up to level 17, the others can at best make it to 11-16 the experience required to level is :
And finally the experience required to level for the Other Skills (Forging, Crafting, Cooking, and Sewing) all of these have a max level of 15 the experience required for them is :
And that is all the info I've learned so far about leveling and levels, if I get any more info on the exp required for certain missing levels, or if hunting experience comes back again for some other reason I'll research into that and add it up, but for now that's it until the OB.. hopefully it's useful or at least interesting to some people...
Many thanks to Bex for helping me craft all the cooking stuff since my cooking level was too high to get any experiecne for anything, and to Suqua for farming a lot of the ingredients for the food I needed to craft... and also various others in my guild the HKO Founders for required experience for various levels...
Note: I bolded all the most important aspects in this guide, so if you're an advanced user, or even just know all the basic stuff I put at the start or even if you think you know everything about pets and re the pokemon master you should still read the bolded areas in this guide, you might find out something you didn't know before!
First a note for everyone, ALL MONSTERS IN THE GAME DROP PET CARDS ALL EVEN THE BOSSES, so it's not a matter of finding which monsters you can have as a pet, it's a matter of finding which monster you want a pet of, just find your favorite boss, or the coolest looking one, or even the best stat one if you like them based on that, start stunning it over and over, until you get your pet card, all of the monsters in the game drop their own type, and yes, the bosses have their own individual pet cards seperate from their lower level versions, so you can get boss pet cards...
Okay, so you've just gotten your first Monster Card, and you want to know how to use it, right? This guide will tell you how to keep it from running, away, how to feed it, how to give it comfort, and how to get the most out of its bonus stats, and inventory...
First off, you should locate the pet tab, you can get there by pressing C for the character panel and then clicking the doghouse in the lower right corner, that is the pet panel...
Some basic information on the panel:
First off you can have up to 3 pets in your pet panel at a time, you may only ever have 1 pet out and helping you at a time, but you can carry three in here, but each pet is unlocked at a different time, the first pet slot unlocks at level 10, meaning you can only get your first pet at level 10, this will be the first slot you can equip pets into, just right click the pet card in your inventory to send it here when you reach level 10, the second slot is unlocked at level 20, and the third slot at level 30, in order to use any certain pet, right click their icon to bring them out, it will highlight the image of that pet in the slot where the card is, and they will walk around you...
The top blank field is where your pet name goes, all pets start with their original monster name as default, if you click on the blue button to the right of the pet name you can Rename your pet to almost anything you want, give it your friends, family's, favorite names, etc... I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU RENAME YOUR PET, since by renaming your pet when you first take it out, the bonus stats it gives all double-triple from it being happy to have it's own name...you can rename your pet anytime with no penalty, so feel free to go back and change it later if you want it to have a different name...
Next is the star icon, bag icon, and the area where it shows a preview of what your pet look like, the pet preview area pretty much speaks for itself, but the star icon is the Level of your pet, you can increase it's level and stats, etc.., and the bag is the inventory, the total # of inventory slots your pet can add to your inventory, whenever you open your inventory with your pet out, it's inventory will come up to the left of your inventory, if it starts with 5 slots, it usually has 2 open and 3 locked at the start, your pets other 3 inventory slots will unlock after you level the pet up...
Next are the Stat bonuses is, these bonuses are basically additionally stats that will be added to your characters stats when you have your pet out, if you level up a strong pet, you can become much much stronger than if you didn't have a pet, they are a great help, the stats are:
HP Bonus, Stamina Bonus, Attack Bonus, Defense Bonus, Critial Hit Bonus, and Dodge Bonus, usually all pets specialize in a different stat, so you can find multiple pets and just look at the stat bonus they have the highest of, and that stat will go up the most as they level, you can find pets that give high bonuses to attack, def, HP, stamina, etc... I myself usually prefer pets with the highest attack bonus, so I look for those, but there are many different types of pets you can raise...
The next three bars are by far the most important:
Experience, Comfort Value, Hunger Value, I'm going to break explaining these up into parts...
First off Experience, this bar starts off at 0/200 at level 1 for any pet, in order to raise your pets Level, and all their bonus stats up, you have to level them up, in order to do that is actually very simple, there are two ways to gain experience, the first one is feeding though the chance of getting experience from feeding is very unlikely, under 10%, whenever you feed your pet, based on the food type you're using you'll get a certain amount of expeirence, however, the other method of leveling up your pet is much easier, and makes more sense, ALWAYS KEP YOUR PET OUT AND HANGING AROUND YOU WHEN YOU ARE HARVESTING, as you harvest, gather from plants, cut down trees, mine from mines, and plant/harvest from your farm, each time you do when your pet is out, your pet will gain 1 experience... it doesn't sound like a lot, but in HKO you do those things A LOT, doing any one of those things once, takes 5 seconds, so every 5 seconds your pet can gain 1 experience like that, so it takes something like 10-20 minutes to level your pet up(raise the experience bar from 0/200 to 200/200) from 1-2, doesn't sound like a lot right? And the best part is after your pet levels from 1-2, the experience bar resets, level 2-3 requires 0/230 experience, just 30 experience more, in terms of time it adds something like 2-5 minutes longer to the original 15-20 minutes per level, each time you level it, so level 2-3 will take 20-25 minutes, level 4 will take 25-30 minutes, etc... each time it levels the experiece required only increases by 30, the levels go as such:
Level 1-2 : 200
Level 2-3 : 230
Level 3-4 : 260
Level 4-5 : 290
Level 5-6 : 320
Level 6-7 : 350
You get the point now? I would keep listing but, there is no known max level in the current version, the highest level pet I've seen was 15, though it probably goes higher, so just remember, all you have to do to level up your pet is keep it out while you gather items for quests, or harvest from your farm for $$, and other things that keep you gathering from resources, and keeping your pet out while you do them, it will level up quickly...
Next off is the Comfort and Hunger Value bars, these two bars work in very similar ways so I will explain them at the same time, first off if either one gets too low your pet will run away because it is uncomfortable or starving, second off the bonus stats your pet gives for it's level, you only get a certain % of them based on how full both of these bars are, if both hunger and comfort bars are 100% full you will gain 100% of your pets possible bonus stats, but if you leave the monly 50% full you'll only get half of what your pets bonus stats can give you, for both of those reasons you'll always want to keep your pets hunger, and comfort bars over 90% full... in order to do this:
First off hunger bar, each type of pet food in the game fills the hunger bar up a different number the most basic pet food in florapolis fills it by 10, the more exspensive food in london fills it by 11, others can do more or less, when you first bring your pet out at level 1 it will be at 160/240, a little over half, you'll want to start feeding it right off, there is a few minute delay between each time you can feed your pet, so make sure you hotkey your pet food and just keep feeding it slowly over time, after you get your pets hunger bar to 240/240 or close to that, you don't need to feed it more than once every 5-20 minutes, since it very slowly gets lower, so just focus on filling up the bar once and after that just feed your pet every so often as you feel like it...but remember DO NOT LET IT DROP BELOW 50% 120/240, pets CAN AND WILL RUN AWAY if you abuse them...
Second off Comfort Bar, just like the hunger bar this is a very important bar you'll want to keep this full as best as you can too, and even better than the hunger bar, this bar does not lower over time, so it will be alot easier to keep from lowering, there are mainly 2 aspects to this bar, Number one when you have your pet out, and right click on it, there will be 3 buttons, Pet, Clean-up, Put back in Card, Petting your pet can be done every 45-60 seconds, and each time you do it it, raises your pets comfort value by 5, this is the primary way to keep your pets comfort value up, so make sure you pet your pet right after you first take it out, because it's comfort bar will be exactly 50%, and you'll want to keep it at 100%, second off, the comfort value does not lower over time, you may wonder how it lowers if that is the case?
Pets have to go to to the toilet, I've noticed that pets actually only go to the toilet soon after you feed them, so after you get hunger bar to 100%, and stop feeding them beyond every 20 minutes or so, you won't have to worry about cleaning up after them so often, but everytime you do feed them keep an eye out, your pet will do a black/white flashing emote that symbolizes they are having an emergency, when you see them do that emote, right click your pet and click the middle button Clean-up, that will let them comfortably go to the toilet, and save your pets comfort bar from lowering... you should always clean-up after your pet asap, this bar is very easy to keep up, since all you have to do is hit that middle button whenever you see your pet needs to go, and IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO NOT LET YOUR COMFORT BAR GO BELOW 50%, just like hunger IT WILL RUN AWAY... not to mention if it gets and stays low you won't get your bonus stats or inventory slots either, so you always want to keep those two bars at over 90% or full...
One final note on going to the toilet, when you do clean-up after your pet, you will sometimes get an item called Pet Jelly in your inventory, they stack up to 99, and are more or less useless so far, you might want to hold onto them, but I usually sell them to the NPC(why do NPCs buy these?), they sell for 1 each, so it's up to you to trash or sell them...
One final MAJOR function of pets, for now there is no penalty for doing this(though I'd think they'll add one eventually), but if you right click your pet while it is walking around near you, you will find the button Return Pet to Card, by clicking this and slecting Okay, your pet will go back into Card form and be returned to your inventory, usin this method you can switch between multiple pets, level pets up, and trade them to other people, a fun feature, right? Trade your pokemon after training them and aim for the pokemon master! Gotta Catch'em All! XP
And I think that covers most aspects of pets in HKO, I hope this helps you to keep your pet alive and well, and let you get the most out of leveling your pet and getting bonus stats from the, hope to see some nice pets later on... ^^ Also, one mention on a future feature, there is supposedly going to be a Pet Breeding function when commercial release/Beijing goes up, so look forward to that too, I might add more to this when that goes up later... it really is pokemon... XD
